The United States of America is an exceptional country. We at the BEAUTY OF POLITICS believe in American exceptionalism.  The US is unique in our mission to spread liberty and democracy.  The US is unique in our emergence from a revolution against a monarch.  The US is unique as we were developed an American ideology based on liberty.  The US is unique in our appreciation of free markets.  The US is unique in our belief in the American Dream – that opportunity for all Americans to achieve success.  The US has a special destiny and a unique system of governance based on the power resting in the individual, not on government power, but empowering citizens to self-govern. The BEAUTY OF POLITICS discusses issues that impact Americans, with a respect for the beauty of our political system and the power vested in the people. In 1787 when leaving Independence Hall on the final day of deliberation on the US Constitution, Benjamin Franklin was reportedly asked:
“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?”
He responded:
 “A Republic, if you can keep it.”
To keep our political system viable, citizens must be informed and engaged.  Andrew Jackson said in his farewell address in 1837:
“But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as in the Federal Government.”
The BEAUTY OF POLITICS focuses on helping citizens in our eternal vigilance.  Ronald Reagan said:
“There is no question that we have failed to live up to the dreams of the founding fathers many times and in many places. Sometimes we do better than others. But all in all, the one thing we must be on guard against is thinking that because of this, the system has failed. The system has not failed. Some human beings have failed the system.” 
President Reagan often referred to America as that shining city on the hill, particularly in his 1984 acceptance of the Republican Party nomination and in his January 11, 1989, farewell speech to the nation:
“…I’ve spoken of the shining city all my political life, but I don’t know if I ever quite communicated what I saw when I said it. But in my mind it was a tall proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind-swept, God-blessed, and teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace, a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity, and if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here. That’s how I saw it and see it still.”

    Laurie Bartlett: Producer, Director, and Host of Beauty of Politics TV and Radio.

    Laurie Bartletts’ experience in both the business and the academic arena has uniquely positioned her for her role as president of Pinscher Promotions, LLC. She holds both a bachelors and masters’ degree from Tarleton State University, and has held the position of adjunct professor in two Florida State University System schools. Prior to founding Pinscher Promotions, Laurie has dedicated most of her career to the hospitality industry, holding positions of vice president of training and development, and senior training and development specialist for large corporations. Additionally she designed and built her restaurant in Killeen, Texas. She held the position of campaign director for a Texas congressional candidate and has been involved in local Tea Party events. Currently Laurie produces Beauty of Politics TV and produces and hosts Beauty of Politics Radio. Pinscher Promotions produces radio, and televsion commercials, as well as develops ad and print copy. Her vast experience with media and her business acumen brings forth high level of professionalism to Pinscher Promotions.

    She has worked in public policy and grassroots campaigns — in government, the political arena and the private sector — for over 35 years. In 2010, Peggy was named to the University Star Hall of Fame at Texas State Univeristy and the national magazine Campaigns and Elections named Venable as one of the top 25 Texas influencers. A native Texan, Peggy spent 15 years in Washington, DC, working in political and policy positions for three Administrations. She worked on public policy issues in the areas of education, natural resources and transportation. In the Reagan Administration, Peggy was White House Liaison for several cabinet secretaries including the US Department of the Interior and the Department of Education. She was the first White House Liaison for the US Department of Education and was there when the idea for “A Nation at Risk” was conceived, which was our country’s first wakeup call that our education system was falling behind other developed countries. At the US Department of the Interior, she directed the “Take Pride in America” grassroots campaign which encompassed eight federal agencies and national spokesmen for that campaign included Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson and Lou Gossett, Jr. . Peggy worked the Republican National Committee and directed the Republican National Convention in 1984. She is a frequent radio talk show guest, has written for numerous state and national media, is a contributing editor to the Lone Star Report, on the board of the Texas Center for Education Research as well as Austin CEO Foundation, a board member of the Reagan Conservative Society and is a past President of the Texas Women’s Alliance and a past President of the Texas State University Foundation Board. Peggy has been an outspoken taxpayer advocate and supported fiscally-conservative public policies in Texas for many years and is currently Texas director of the grassroots organization championing economic freedom issues — Americans for Prosperity which has 116,000 activists in Texas.

    Madeleine Connor is a politically active lawyer and mom. Madeleine grew up in Houston, Texas, and graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2001. During law school, Madeleine wrote for the school newspaper, was on the mock-trial team, participated in moot court competitions, and was the school’s Federalist Society president for two terms. Madeleine also interned at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, worked as a family-court clerk for a Republican judge, while working as a bartender in various well-known Houston establishments. After law school, Madeleine took a clerkship at the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, and later that year, moved to Austin and started a private law practice which focused on criminal appeals, family-law matters, and parental-rights litigation. In 2004, Madeleine closed her law practice and took a clerkship at the Court of Criminal Appeals (the highest court in Texas for criminal matters) where she worked for three years, handling death-penalty appeals, writs of habeas corpus, and appeals from the intermediate courts of appeals. For the last five years, Madeleine has been a civil litigator in the General Litigation Division of the Attorney General’s Office. In that capacity, Madeleine litigates civil-rights and constitutional claims in trial and on appeal in state and federal court. Additionally, Madeleine handles pro bono cases for parents seeking custody of their children, teaches Sunday School at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, and has served as a volunteer volleyball coach at West Austin Youth Association. Madeleine also is a candidate for Justice of the Third Court of Appeals. Madeleine is a single mom of three daughters, ages 10, 14, and 26.
